The Dick....Cheney
The Dick....Cheney: "Baghdad
'Once you get to Baghdad, it's not clear what you do
with it. It's not clear what kind of government you
put in place of the one that's currently there now.
Is it going to be a Shia regime, a Sunni regime, a
Kurdish regime? Or one that tilts toward the Baathists,
or one that tilts toward Islamic fundamentalists?
How much credibility is that going to have if it's
set up by the American military there? How long
does the United States military have to stay there
to protect the people that sign on for that government,
and what happens once we leave?'
Secretary of Defense
Dick Cheney 1991

I sure wish more attention was being paid to Haiti as it is very similar to the Ivory Coast situation.

Slaughter in Iraq
Slaughter in Iraq: " The Associated Press is reporting about an all out slaughter that took place over the past two days in the area of the downed American Helicopter. Warning, this report is not for the faint of heart but for the Chickenhawks I would say this is recommended reading material. Thirty people were dragged from their vehicles yesterday and were fatally shot -- execution-style -- in farming areas in Nibaei, a town near Dujail, about 50 miles north of Baghdad, said police Lt. Qahtan al-Hashmawi. "

And I just heard that Brown was at a ski resort saying how he was wrong not to ask for help and that the Hurricane was way to big to deal with for such a small and ineffective agency as FEMA.
So, "it wasn't me it was the agency that I made completely ineffective" seems to be his approach now. It's good to know that the man responsible for such a huge catastrophe is free to go from country club to ski resort and talk about this as if it was just another failed polo match where he didn't get word out in time to bring the sponsors to the table.

This is a gut-wrenching view of just two days in Iraq. I would hope that every politician that voted to grant Bush the power to start this war would read it and see what a grave mistake they made.

I noticed this post by Chris over at MyDD:
Oh, this is so exciting! Thank you all so much!
As of 2:53pm, 136 of you guys had raised $6629 for the poll. While we need to raise $16K for the entire project, we only need $7500 in order to start the phone calls. That means we are only $871 away from putting the poll in the field.
As soon as we have the $7500, we will send the money to Joel Wright. After that we can start the poll as early as this weekend, and as late as Tuesday.
We are almost halfway there. I have seen the final questionnaire--and it is really exciting stuff. I should be able to give you guys a look soon.
So I wanted to find out more, and it is really interesting stuff:"

The Political Switchboard -> A judge that lies.
The Political Switchboard -> A judge that lies.: "'A judge can't have any agenda,' said Alito over and over and over at the Senate Confirmation Hearings. But then I thought back to yesterday's testimony when he was discussing an Apellate Court decision in which he described the judges their as being in two camps, one camp was pro-employer and one camp was pro-employee.
So I guess a judge can have an agenda Mr. Alito and your agenda is very clear. To award a woman who suffered racial discrimination at the hands of her employer in front of co-workers a measly $150,000 that was to include lawyer fees for a case that went through three courts is like spitting on the person discriminated against. And it certainly is no deterrent for the employer not to repeat the mistake.
And oh did the Republicans flaunt that one as being proof that you aren't a racist. Only in their blurred vision of Viagra, Champagne and Tinted Windows would they think that this was proof of a well adjusted individual.
The thing is, I know he will be approved and I know he will back Bush all the way to the gas chamber...so what's an American Citizen to do? "
